Classroom Policies and Procedures
Learning is not a spectator sport. You must be an active participant in your own education. While I hope you enjoy this class, it is not a social club. Conduct which disrupts class work or invades the rights of others to learn will not be tolerated. Respect for self, others, property is expected at
all times.
The following activities are considered disruptive:
Attendance = Not being here is disruptive to your educational process. You will be expected to check my teacher page on the MTHS website to see what you missed. I will NOT take class time to help you figure out what you missed. You will be allowed TWO excused absences per semester without having to do any extra assignments and without losing any participation points. Excused absences beyond two will REQUIRE an outside classroom assignment to offset the participation point losses from class.
Tardy = Being tardy is disruptive to the educational process for you AND for others. I will NOT take class time away from others to help you figure out what you missed. Three tardies will result in a detention.
Passes = You MUST present your own plan book. If you do not have your planner, you will have to use a tardy. You will only be allowed FIVE passes per semester. I would prefer that you use ZERO passes, but I realize that there may be emergencies. If you have extenuating health conditions that I need to know about, please see me. You MAY NOT use a pass in the following circumstances:
---During lecture or demonstration.
---During first 15 minutes of class.
Unauthorized web surfing = Surfing the Internet is disruptive to your educational process. You are expected to pay attention to whatever tasks you are given. I will NOT take class time away from others to help you figure out what you missed when you should have been paying attention the first time. If you are caught somewhere you are not supposed to be, you will be asked to leave and will receive zero participation points for the day.
Abuse of computer equipment = Messing around with your computer equipment and/or that of others is disruptive to your educational process and that of others. If you are caught doing this, you will be asked to leave and will receive zero participation points for the day.
Disrespect for others = Students and teacher will treat all others with respect. If there are any disruptions, outbursts, talking, and/or inappropriate comments that detract from the learning of others, you will be asked to leave and will receive zero participation points for the day.
